    The Difference Is Creative Intent

Some fifty years ago, I was able to spend a summer studying photography under Goon Mili, a veteran Time-Life photographer and avery skilled Hungarian master. He worked with Edgerton on the flash, and did these lovely time lapsed ballet shots that were just mesmerizing combinations of dancers...

    Which Hasselblad should I buy?

Had my head wrapped around an X1D, and then went and tried it. Compared it to the X2D, and for this user, there was no comparison. The X2D just works so well...

    A visit to Berlin with 907x 100C

had a 907 50CII - used this with it happily: L bracket - small - has a rubberized pad on the bottom for protection, fits the 907x with the back just perfect, and has the nice ability to stow the hex wrench underneath the bracket. with this - wooden grip also easily removable for travel. Works...

Use of non XCD lenses on X2D, questions

Try 14bit color with 3rd party, ES lenses. Helps with readout speed.

    Hasselblad 100C and 35XL

Some pretty thoughtful observations here, and some differences of opinion. My own perspective differs a bit from some of the above: my experience is largely in architecture, and in that field, the responsibility for putting pieces together from different vendors or manufacturers is complex. In...

Architecture photography - a proposition for the GFX 100RF

Interest here has long been in movements for architectural shots. This is different from general landscape, where tilt is important, and also different from stitching, where the precision matching is also important. For stitching, the pancake cameras are still the best, but oddly for sheer...

    Fuji GFX 100RF

I remember many years ago being taught how to hold a camera - how to brace your elbow into your ribs, your flat left hand and two fingers under the body, two fingers to focus, right hand stabilizing, finger only on shutter. Control the breathing... with practice and good technique, ⅛" possible...

Very impressive. A bit over my head, but there is always tomorrow to look forward to. Thank you for doing this.

    Flat field correction in Lightroom

Just to expand on Dave's comment, In C1, once the LCC file has been processed, you can copy and paste it to apply to any image, simply.

    Travelling with a technical camera

Ouch. It’s getting a bit hot here. Can we either back off this line of thought, or at least move it to its own thread?

    Travelling with a technical camera

There's been some super posts, one of the more interesting threads in some time. Thanks to all. I'd just like to toss in .02$ about usability vs. ideal. Some time ago I did a goofy test of different lenses on different setups, comparing tech camera and lenses against some wide angle fixed...

    Travelling with a technical camera

A thought: better than a 28PC on an M11, try a 21SEM and crop. Tested this years ago on an M9, and apart from less pixels, the cropped 21 gave a better result. Still not tech camera. Smplest high quality might be the 21 XCD.

    Travelling with a technical camera

The Alpa max is great for flexibility, but the weight and size make it a bit awkward in the field. Mind you, my notion of picking up the tripod, camera and back is with one hand, easily done. The Max tips the scales a bit too much. And I found I didn't really need it, although I thought I would...

    Travelling with a technical camera

Excellent responses from Darr and Dave, both of whom I greatly respect. They are both very savvy users of this gear. Like Darr, I had the Max and thought it ideal. But its weight ruled out easy travel with it, and it rarely left the house. in the field, I like to mount the camera on the tripod...

    Travelling with a technical camera

For a long time, I've been convinced of the need for double axis shifting in a tech camera. Gotta have it for architectural shots. However, several years of STC use - with one axis shifting - has been absolutely adequate. Between rotating the back, shifting, stitching, changing lenses and...

    Sharpest Hasselblad XCD lenses

Not much to add to above; all are exemplary. Only can suggest a comparison of the 28P and 30X: the smaller 28 is great for carrying around, and quite good. however, there is a bit of edge distortion (visible for architectural work), which is not the case in the excellent 30mm. That lens is...
