    Hasselblad X2DII

With audio the A/D converter gets its input from a real analogue signal. there you ‘could’ benefit from a floating point converter. With an image sensor it’s different. Here the A/D converter gets its input from the pixel-well, consisting of a fixed number of electrons, for instance 1,2,3 …...

    Hasselblad Composer Tool

Agreed. The benefit with my formula is not only that it fits within the same 16 bit range (no clipping) but also that it works on the fly without knowing in advance how many iterations you’re going to process. You can stop averaging any time after each iteration.

    Hasselblad Composer Tool

    Here is my understanding of the mathematical frame averaging formula: The k-th new_average = 1/k * new image + (k-1)/k * old_average

corruption crept into some of my files

I’ve seen something similar, including the same pink stripe. In my case it was caused in CaptureOne, through a mismatch between the RAW image and the cos file, while writing the processed image to disc. I must say that this was purely my own fault, not C1’s, as I was messing with the RAW file...

    Hasselblad XCD 20-35mm f/3.2-4.5 E

Why a lens mount can have play? It’s most certainly not through the manufacturing process. These days the milling machines manufacturing the lens mount have incredibly small tolerances, far less than the play that we’re talking about here. I think we’ll have to look for answers at the R&D...

    Base M4 Mac Mini 16ram/256ssd

I can’t imagine having so many programs installed, occupying 4TB of stuff but no images. Ever tried CleanMyMac ;) ?

    Base M4 Mac Mini 16ram/256ssd

Well, I have a somewhat different view on this. The OP has a Mac Mini containing only 16GB of RAM. In my opinion this is way too limited for generic Image processing activities under C1, Lightroom, Photoshop, Affinity, Helicon, etc. Especially Photoshop is RAM-hungry. Even 15 years ago I...

    Technical Camera Images

8mm of fall …… and about 2 degrees of rotation to the left? Thanks for sharing, great image indeed, apart from the horizon if you don’t mind me saying ;) Cheers!

Shoulder bag for one of the new MF cameras

One more suggestion towards ThinkTank Retrospective. Very comfortable to carry around, opening the top and taking your camera in and out. While walking around you’ll maintain a relatively low profile, not screaming ‘steal me’ from a distance. Cheers!

So, who is buying a Alpa these days?

I do recognize the 'it’s literally just a thin frame' part of it. Me calling it 'sophisticated back-to-lens connection plate'. All the best!

So, who is buying a Alpa these days?

No back tilt. Look it up. It allows you to correct fleeing perspective in a different way than shift, complementing it. => I'm not familiar with applying tilt for correcting perspective. I always thought 'tilt' does not change perspective, only tilting the DOF focal plane. Let me look that up...

So, who is buying a Alpa these days?

"Having back tilt allows you to correct perspective in architectural photography". => I presume you mean 'back SHIFT', right? In that sense it's similar to what Fuji implemented with their GF 30mm tilt/shift lens while mounting the lens foot on the tripod. Not that this matters to you Paul...

    Phase One IQ5 – Sony 247 MPX – 3:2 – will you get it?

The signs were already there when they split the business between PhaseOne and CaptureOne. Cheers

    Hasselblad 20-35 Test Images

Thanks Matt for pointing this out. That’s pretty poor that in-camera JPG’s do not have lens corrections applied. What were they thinking at HB Headquarters? Cheers!

    Hasselblad 20-35 Test Images

Post-processing costly w.r.t. data? Are we talking about lens corrections? It doesn’t require any more data, as in ‘data storage’. Lens corrections are also carried out on the fly in the RAW converter, not requiring much data-processing. And in case of jpg it’s all done in-camera. Maybe I miss...

    Hasselblad 20-35 Test Images

To put it simply, with lens corrections you re-align all three/four RGB/RGBG color channels on top of each other in such a way that a square in the image becomes a square again. => correction of distortion and chromatic errors. Additionally, there is also a correction on vignetting. Some...

    Hasselblad 20-35 Test Images

Nothing wrong with your thinking. They should be all the same optically, meaning 'within the test-spec limits of the manufacturer'. Keep in mind that there will always be variations from sample to sample, especially on multi-glass constructions like zoom lenses. Cheers!

    Hasselblad 20-35 Test Images

These days lens designs heavily rely on lens corrections. Some aspects of the total lens design will be carried out through the optics construction itself and some of it through lens corrections. One cannot conclude on the lens performance without taking both aspects into account. Cheers!

New Limited Edition from Hasselblad for 'Adventurous Photographers'!

Guys, it looks like some of you have your period. Let’s keep things decent for the rest of the audience reading this post, and before the moderator is doing his act. Shall we now move on to what this post is really about? Thanks in advance :) Cheers

    RZ67 Pro IID won’t shoot with IQ3

Red light on the lower right side of the viewing screen => the lever on the right side (the one that's also for rotation) needs to be set to M. Cheers, JaapD
