Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

    I'm a gear-head. Literally. OM-1, DG 12-60 or Lumix 45f2.8

Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

A few from a West Yorkshire village called Heptonstall, which has retained so much character. Always worth a visit for photography if in the area. All OM-1 with the Oly PRO 7-14 f4. Conversion in Silver Efex with a recipe I created which I call 'Don McCullin2' HDR, 5 frames converted in HDR...

Fun with the Ricoh GR III

Really effective contre-jour here. Great b&w conversion. Great photography from a great camera.

Fun with the Ricoh GR III

It's a great landscape camera, too. GRIII.

Fun with the Ricoh GR III

This series shows what a fantastic camera the Ricoh GR is. I've got into trouble before for suggesting that if you are serious about photography you should have one of these cameras. But I stand by my beliefs and these photographs support them!

Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

Windfarms in West Yorkshire, all near Hebden Bridge. OM-1, Lumix Leica 12-60. The graininess on these last two is because of the hail storm that arrived as I was taking them. Thank goodness for weather sealing.

Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

Wow, colourful and lots of detail. Great photo and amazing to see how this lens is still such a great performner.

The OM-3, rebirth of a legend

The only thing that would hold me back is that the BF is a 24mpx camera and so is my Ricoh GRIII. Albeit that one is FF and the other APS-C. But I am not sure in day to day use I'd actually notice much difference. But anyway, this is an OM-3 thread so we should leave it there. As for the OM-3...

Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread

OM-1, Lumix Leica DG 12-60mm, converted to monochrome in SilverEfex. Somewhere on the moors outside Haworth, West Yorkshire, earlier this week.

The OM-3, rebirth of a legend

Dare I say the Sigma BF excites me more than the OM-3?

Fun with the Ricoh GR III

Couldn't be fagged to drag my Olympus camera and lens uphill to the Top Withens on the West Yorkshire moors yesterday so I took my Ricoh GRIII instead. I'd happily print the first one 30x20 inches with no problem.

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Experienced as I was with DEC PDP/11s I absolutely loved CPM. That is the operating system which should have become the 'DOS' instead of Microsoft DOS. imho.

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Thanks, Godfrey. Those metrics are very helpful. 26 secs is at least 50-60% faster than my current PC. LouisB

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Godfrey, one test I would be interested in is how long it takes for a RAW file to go through Denoise. I tend to end up with may 30-50 raw files out of 2,000 photos taken on a typical trip out to photograph birds/wildlife. On my current i7 PC with I think only 4 cores and a 6GB gpu card that...

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Interesting career. I love the DEC minis but as soon as I started working on PCs - or rather Apple PCs initially - that was it. I never worked on a mini or mainframe again either as a developer or on the projects I was involved with. I was also early through the gate with web development. Pretty...

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Yeah... it sounds like it will run on the $599 entry Mac Mini. Ooooopssss!

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Hmmmm. Thanks again for the info. Especially the cautionary note about the difference in UI and the problems with adapting. Godfrey: I hear you and in fact my largest RAW files are 24mpx and I doubt they will get much larger in my lifetime (unless I win the lottery and can afford the 907x...

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

Thanks for the responses so far. AlanS as you and I are using similar cameras, that is reassuring. I won't be going anything larger than 20mpx-24mpx sensors I suspect for pretty much the future (unless Ricoh somehow squeeze the 40mpx sensor of the Fuji X-T5 into a new GR body?). I am thinking...

Fun with the Ricoh GR III

Debatable. Euston Station is going to be rebuilt but the current plan is that HS2 will stop at a place called Old Oak Common to the West of London and that existing surface/underground transport will take passengers into London. To say this entire project is a total disaster would be unfair to...

Going from PC to Apple Mac Mini

When I talked online with an Apple support person they maintained that for LrC and PS all I needed was the base 24GB internal memory. on the Mac Mini M4 Pro. In fact today on my PC I used 32GB of memory and it is fine. Do you think I should go for more memory, e.g. the next upgrade to 48GB...
